Welcome And Exotica Preview
Nosy Neighbor. My guest today is a beautiful Busty Redhead who got her start webcamming and went on to star in adult videos. She's won many awards for her work in front of and behind the camera. Lauren Phillips, thanks for joining us today.
LAUREN PHILLIPSThanks for having me. I'm very excited to be here.
Nosy Neighbor.Very excited to have you. You are appearing at the Loyal Fans Spotlight here in Minnesota at the Minneapolis Exotica Convention here in Minneapolis this weekend. So excited to talk to you beforehand. Have you been to Minneapolis before?
LAUREN PHILLIPSI have never been there before.
Nosy Neighbor.Weather has been beautiful. So we're looking forward to welcoming you to Minnesota and Minneapolis. You're gonna be there for three days and you have two seminars going on. So if you're in the Minnesota area, uh feel free to look that up and I'll post a link to that. But let's talk about your start. You started webcaming using chatterbait. What got you started doing that?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, God, I started in the industry in 2013.
Why She Started Webcamming
LAUREN PHILLIPSI had done some amateur pro adult films in Miami with like reality kings, mofos. And basically, as I'm trying to figure out, all right, how am I going to stand out over the what 40,000 at that time people uh in my industry, I was like, someone had told me about cheming. And I was like, oh. And as I started kind of structuring this business plan of mine, I was like, well, if I start chamming and building an audience, then when I decide to go into profession, uh mainstream professional adult films, which would be more in Los Angeles, I would have a fan base that wants to see me, which would make me on demand. And that's kind of how it started was like at that time, cam models were not really a part of the mainstream uh porn industry. And they like they were not at ABN, they were not like a co-host or anything like that. It was, they were technically two separate worlds at that time. And like if uh a porn star would basically be on cam, it would be a scheduled cam show, usually on like their website or through StreamAid or one of the where you had to like it's like pay purview type feel. So I was like, great, this is what I'm gonna do. And I ended up being really successful at it. I'd like, but I also did put like 40 hours a week in. I took, I I made I took it as like any other type of job. And I did that, I was a full-time cam model for two and a half years in Florida.
Nosy Neighbor. One of the things that surprised me about doing research on you is, and you kind of mentioned it just with your answer there, is a lot of people do it just, oh, I enjoy camming, or I enjoy the you know the attention, or
Turning Adult Work Into A Business
Nosy Neighbor.I enjoy sex, but this seems to be like it's always been a business for you. Your approach has not just been oh, I I enjoy it and this is fun, but this is you have really created a business not only in front of but behind the camera, as far as your involvement with you know certain toys and stuff like that that you promote. What made you decide that this was more of a business for you? And you saw the longevity big picture of things.
LAUREN PHILLIPSIt kind of just developed that way. It's so hard to explain. Like when I got when I had decided that I was going to be in the adult industry, I was coming from a career in mainstream dance, and I had gone to college for it, and that was like my love, and that's what I was gonna survive for my art, you know? And I started losing the love for my art. So I needed a new career path. And one of my friends was like, Lauren, you'd be great as a porn star. And it kind of just developed into that. So when I decided to get into it, it just was, I would just my when I first got into it, it was, I can do this, I'm really good at it. Like I I love, I had a very high sex drive. I love doing it. And I was like, I just didn't want to live paycheck to paycheck anymore. I wanted to uh be able to survive on my own and have the finer things in life that I feel makes uh makes me happy. And I just started talking to people and I learned through a partner of mine. We he actually taught me about business and basically how to build a business, structure of a business, and that I was doing so well on Chatterbait. There he he was like, you need to build a corporation for yourself. And he taught me all about the taxes. I learned about uh all the stuff about like the legal stuff and the taxes stuff, and it just intrigued me. And as I saw it growing, it just kind of developed as an ambition of mine and the love for the industry just grew even more. And this, I think, more of a confidence came to me than anything of like, I'm just like everybody else. I am a business owner and I can, if I put my mind to it and I, you know, figure things out, I can do whatever I can be and do whatever I want. So it was, I didn't come into this industry as like I'm career focused, it just kind of developed into it as my brand got bigger and bigger. I was like, all right, I can do these things and just thinking about everything and and life and how everything develops and how uh I develop, it just kind of trickled. And as I started talking to people and getting advice and learning things and things started really intriguing me, and I started doing research and everything, it just kind of developed that way. It's I it's funny because I never thought I was gonna be where I am today. That was not like my main goal of like, I'm going to be this. There, that was never like that. And but when the opportunity where I was like, I could be this, I was like, I'm gonna do it. And let's, you know, just see what happens. And that's what happened.
Nosy Neighbor.I'm not one for regulations in industries, but I almost have to wonder, you mentioned that you had people that kind of went over the taxes and the business aspect of it. Is there enough
Mentors, Branding, And Reality Checks
Nosy Neighbor.of those kind of people in the industry to help out if people are are seeking that? Because I see like a lot of young women now, they think that they can open an OnlyFans or go on chatterbait, and that's all they have to do, and they hope to become rich. But there doesn't seem to be that education of like how to brand yourself and how to deal with you know promoting yourself, other than come see me on OnlyFans. Is there a need for not regulation but for more people? And maybe it's people like you that need to step up to kind of help educate up-and-coming people doing what you did, or is that just this worked for you and not for everyone else?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, I think for me, I I can't, it's so hard because the industry is very different now. It's not what it used to be. Like when I started, there was no OnlyFans. And for me, I'm like, OnlyFans is just another platform that got lucky. And the I don't know the strategy on how they run their business. I don't know that this could be strategic. You never know behind the scenes of someone else's business if they're, you know, buying traffic or you know, putting money for advertisements and and all this stuff. Like I really don't know their business structure and and stuff like that. But for me, uh if you're getting in this industry, I always indicate that you're doing something very intimate on camera. And I always advise people to like, you know, not to just do it formally. Like you should do it because you like it and you want to do it, because you're doing something so intimate at one point or another that you have to, you're giving your part, you're giving yourself to the audience when you do something, it's you're always giving something to somebody. Does that make sense?
Nosy Neighbor.Yeah, well, that makes sense. If you were, I mean, you've reached a level of stardom these days, or Lauren Phillips is a well-known name in the industry. If you were voted queen or president of the porn
What She Would Change Industry Wide
Nosy Neighbor.industry, is there any changes that you would make that you see as someone that has been there for a few years now and and rise through the the level of stardom?
LAUREN PHILLIPSGod, things to change. I'm like, I uh I think my first thing that I would really would like to push would be testing and following the protocol that we have in the industry so that we keep each other safe and uh basically making sure that protocol and not just testing, also documentations and and stuff like that, I feel like is the most important that people don't the, you know, I don't and I don't mean to like to structure only for like the OnlyFans content creators, but it seems specifically for them because they cater so much for OnlyFans to have that for them. And I sometimes feel like OnlyFans does not push the protocol of what what we have in porn. So I think someone uh a company that their main income is pornographic material should be and should be promoting testing and legal documentation. So I think one of the things I would push is to educate yourself in testing and being tested every 14 days and checking others' people's tests. That's that's our responsibility, is saying, I need to see your test. And it's not just for the company itself, especially when these content creators is a business, an error company, and I don't think they understand the liability that they put on error in general, because they don't either take the business seriously or they don't know how to run a business. Oh, I'm just creating content. Any type of content, and it just is not just in the uh adult industry, it's all content creating, any type of influencer, TikTok from TikTok, from Instagram, from YouTube, you are a company and you are liable of what you do and how you do things and what you shoot in public and and everything like that. Copyright of music, it's you're a legit business and you have to kind of treat it that way. So I think that would be my main thing is just I know our protocol is not the law, right? Paperwork is the law. You need to have that. You need to have a if you're a 2257 a model release form. And usually if you're monetizing content, you need to have consent with anyone that's going to be shown on camera, unless you're not going to show their face in any type of like filming or like content you do, if I remember. I don't know if I'm I'm not super sure on that, but I know in the doll industry you definitely have to. So I feel like that's that's the law. And and then I feel like just being safe is the main thing. Like this industry is supposed, we're supposed to help protect each other. And, you know, when I shoot, I'm taking responsibility. It is my responsibility to make sure that my talent on there is safe and that the person in my private life or anyone I'm I'm being intimate in my private life is also safe. And it trickles, it's like a domino effect. So my my talent can have three other shoots that week or four other shoots or whatever. And it goes to that that everyone that they're working with, it's still my responsibility to make sure that I'm like, hey, this is my test and this is how I and this is how I test and everything like that. So I'm a big advocate when it comes to testing. And I'm still learning. Like I was just online learning about the continuing research on MGen and stuff like that.
Nosy Neighbor. So and I believe that one of the two seminars that you're doing at Exotica in Minneapolis is on testing and those kind of procedures, correct?
LAUREN PHILLIPSYes. So I
Testing Protocols And ProDX Health
LAUREN PHILLIPSam an ambassador for ProDX Health, also known as Pro 13. And we will be doing a seminar on testing and trying to advocate that people get tested and make it a priority. Like if I'm not tested, I literally feel naked. I feel like, oh my God, I am exposed. You know, I don't, I'm I've been tested every 14 days for almost 14 years. So I'm so used to it. It is part of, it's almost like a habit now that I get a notification either from my testing facility to anything, a text, or I have it on my calendar. And I'm like, I get a two-day warning, and I'm like, all right, so I'm gonna get tested this day, and then I do it. So this seminar is supposed to educate people. And I don't think it's just educating them on the SCI and the importance of it. It's actually trying to influence them to just give a shit, just to stop being, and I and I know this is probably gonna come off really cruel, but it's really honest to stop being so selfish and just give a shit about other people if you're going to be in an industry where you're putting not just your health in jeopardy, you're putting other people's health in jeopardy. And I feel like that's one of the things. And I don't just think it's I don't just think it's content creators, I think it's also uh adult stars as well. Because when we did have a blow up like what, two, three years ago, right after the pandemic and it was lifted, and content creating was so blowing up in the OF community, and we had a, I think it was a breakout of chlamydia, and then we were also MTM popped up. And it is, as an adult star, our responsibility to inform content creators the protocol and and stick to it and say this is how we do it. So it is two, it's both parties' fault for not being strict on that and not pushing what protocol is supposed to be. So that is what this is about. Like I've had a talk with Dr. K about this, is that we can continue to put, we have made it so easy now. It's not hard anymore. Like you can literally, pro DX Health, you can go online, purchase your test, they ship it to you, you do it at home, and then you ship it back. You can have right now they they I they it's through a FedEx, you can have FedEx pick it up. You don't even have to leave your house anymore. You can pick it from your house, you know. So at that time, when I talked to Dr. K, it's just now people just giving a shit of you want to be in this industry and you want to do this. It's like having any type of insurance for your business. You know, if you have a house, you have property uh insurance, you have like um like you have all the stuff that rental insurance, like all the stuff. So just in case something would happen, this is what this is. This is I got I got tested. I took the responsibility that I am going to have sex on camera, I'm doing sexual intercourse, uh, and that's I take risk I'm taking responsibility and being responsible to do that. So that's what I feel like the seminar is about, is just kind of putting it's already in people's faces, and now it's like, what can we do for you to can to just give a shit about other people and this industry?
Nosy Neighbor.Well, we kind of look at how we reacted to COVID and the the measures that we went through to protect each other, and you look at you know what you can get in the industry, those are career changing. I mean, you come down with something uh from another creator and your career is pretty much over. Uh, and so I I don't think what you said was harsh or anything like that. I think there's a sharp reality of if this is what you want to engage in, this is the levels that you have to take to protect not only yourself, but it's respect for other people too. So well said.
LAUREN PHILLIPSThank you.
Nosy Neighbor.I wonder what do you think the state of the porn industry is? Because you know, 10-15 years ago, in order to see, you know, if you had a video out, I'd have to go to an adult
Paying For Content In A Free World
Nosy Neighbor.bookstore or the back of a room of a of a video store to get your work or to buy your magazine or to get something. And now, you know, I can watch hundreds of hours of you for free on you know, clips and stuff like that, where I don't have to go and buy something. I mean, there's still studios like browsers and wicked, you know, that you want people to sign up for, but there's so much that's spilled over into free clips and free videos. Is there a way to kind of get that genie back in the bottle, or how do how do creators like you kind of protect your work and get people to sign up for the browsers and and stuff like that?
LAUREN PHILLIPSThat that is like the hard the hardest question to answer because it's extremely tedious. So I if I had the solution for that, I don't think we would be having this problem. Uh, because that's that's the thing is uh people is it more for free online anymore? I don't I think it is harder and harder to see stuff online now, like a lot of unless you're using VPNs. There's so many states now that have the age verification law. So I uh I know it's not they they don't make it easy anymore. And I think I think that my fans know that we have to I'm hoping they do anyway, to continue to have this industry, you have to pay. And I think we still have the generation that is so used to paying that they uh that is what they do and they want to support an industry. I don't know, like so we still have the baby boomers, we still have generation X, and we still have Millenniums, which are the top three generations that have had to pay for things. So I would say what we need to worry about is Gen Z and Alpha the Generation Alpha and make sure that they like you know pay for stuff too. Uh so I I wish I had a complete like answer for that, but they're the only way to kind of like dip and see how everything is going would be to dip into the analytics of everything. So and the process of of all of it that it's going on. So uh OnlyFans is a very like uh a very intimate thing, and people want to connect. And so I don't think OF is going anywhere anytime soon, but you know, I think Pornhub and X Videos and X Camster, um, all of it um has seen the repercussions and trying to keep our industry afloat, that they have created affiliate links and uh almost like YouTube monetizing being able to monetize everything so that we can continue to make money and have a and not just like starve out our industry.
Nosy Neighbor. Now you do studio work like browsers and wicked pictures and reality kings, but you also do OnlyFans and Chatterbait. Uh one is one aspect is studio, and one aspect is much
Studio Sets Versus Self Produced Content
Nosy Neighbor.more personal. How do you choose you know which way you're leading to or choosing content to create or working with certain people? How do you choose between?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, shooting will always be my uh top priority because I like being on set. Like I I always tell everybody that I was made to be uh like a 90s early 2000 porn star. Like I like being on set, I want to be on set. And uh that is that is a top, it's my first love, so it's a top priority. And everything else is kind of scheduled around that. So for me, that you know, being on set is different. I yes, I can dictate my schedule when I want to shoot, uh, but when I'm scheduled for a shoot, they dictate what I do and what like all right, uh my character for that day, what outfits I need to bring, uh call time, every the structure of the day and stuff like that. Where if I'm shooting my own content, it's my responsibility to do that. It's my responsibility of all right, this is what I'm shooting today, this is how everything's gonna go, so on, so on, so on. So it's two, you're trying to combine two worlds, which are two different worlds, technically.
Nosy Neighbor. Now, Lauren Phillips in the industry is a well-known name now. Uh, I'm sure there's lots of studios that would have something that features Lauren Phillips. How do you go about choosing roles?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, uh, I don't this goes back to uh uh what I just said is that I don't I don't choose my like I can choose to shoot with a company or not. And if I go on there and I say, hey, I don't want to shoot that, I I can if uh if I want to, but for me, I'm there to do a job. My job is an actress, you know, and I don't get most of the time I don't get the script until either the night before or the day of. And so for me, I should, as I am an actress and I should be really good at my skill, I should be able to portray anybody in any scenario. So for uh so it's not like I I choose, I can decline it and say, I don't, I don't like this character, I'm gonna not shoot, but I've never done that. I've never had I I I'm not that type of person. I've never ever, I think the only thing I probably would be close of like, hey, you know what? I don't want to say that would be if someone I was doing a MILF thing and they wanted me to say little boy or girl or mention like calling me old or something like that. I would be like, hey, can I reword that? Like this, the person I'm I'm you know, that I'm working with is not a girl. She is, I can say lady or woman, but it still shows that she's of age, where girl is a more term of a child, uh same thing as like little boy, like good boy or good girl, I'm fine with. But like when you start indicating specific nouns that way, I feel like can be pushing the you know, the subject of uh pushing the boundaries a little bit. And then I don't like to indicate that someone of my age is old. I think society has manipulated that if you're not in your 20s, you're old. And I don't think that's true at all. Like at all. I I think I love um I loved my 20s. I was very lucky that I started the industry at 25. So I got to live life, experience life in a way all different ways. Like I went through the whole of figuring out what I wanted to do in my life. I went to college and and I got to have this experience. But I uh I am 38, turning 39 this year, and I'm very proud of it. I don't hide it. And I would never ever go back to my 20s, ever. Like I like being the age, the being in this era that I am.
Nosy Neighbor. Now, you also do work behind the camera. Is Lauren Phillips behind the camera the same Lauren Phillips in front of the camera? And by that I mean the the types of stuff that you enjoy, maybe directing,
Directing And Producing Behind Camera
Nosy Neighbor.or stuff that you like to produce, or you know, is that different than what the the actress likes to do? Are those similar or are there different aspects that you like exploring not in front of the camera?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, when so when I'm in front of like, are they the same person? Yeah, kind of like they are somewhat the same person. I do like things, I like to be on top of things, I like to be professional. But when I'm behind a camera and I'm directing, I have a lot more responsibility. So I'm in charge of that, that set. I'm in charge of scheduling and figuring things and figuring if there's a problem, then I have to figure it out. So I have a lot more responsibilities when I'm behind the camera. So if you're talking about me directing uh one of my uh one of my like like switch and stuff like that, I had a lot more responsibility. I had a lot more responsibility. I had to pick talent, I had to adult time help me pick uh location. But I had to, I got there early. I had to look at the location, I had to figure out where we were going to shoot and how and the lineup and talk to my camera guy, talk to my lighting guy, and see how we can shoot this where it is, you know, it flows naturally as we're shooting it. So it's just a lot more responsibility where as a talent, you know, if something goes wrong technically, it's you know, not my problem. I I try to help. It's not that I don't, I'll try my best to be like figure out a situation. And that could be because of my experience behind the camera, of that I feel like if there's a will, there's a way and we can figure it all out. That I see. But usually, like unless I'm trying to like flow the scene as a talent, I feel like that's my responsibility is to figure out how to make the scene flow as easy as possible, uh, to make the camera guy's job easy, to make the director's job easy, to make my talent like my whole thing on set is to make everyone life like life easy. So that when they see Lauren Phillips' name on their schedule, they're like, oh, it's gonna be a fun, uh uh productive and easy day. That was always my goal when I got when I moved to LA, and that's what I achieved. So that's that's my go-to.
Nosy Neighbor. Now you've worked with a lot of great other performers. Is there anyone that is still kind of on the bucket list that you look forward to? Do you follow other performers that are up and coming that you say, hey, I'd love to work
Dream Collaborations And New Talent
Nosy Neighbor.with them? Or is it more of a business that whoever you get paired with, you're professional and that's what you do?
LAUREN PHILLIPSWell, a lot of people that I wanted to work with when I first got in the industry left. And I was like, oh, there it goes. Like I uh God, I wanted to work with Danny Daniels. Uh she had left, she's a really good friend of mine. So I get to like talk to her and you know, and be friends, but I actually never got to work with her on camera. Uh that was one of my one of the things I wanted to do. And then I wanted to work with Christy Mack, but she left as well. And I was like, oh man. And then I also wanted to work with Asa Kira. And I the closest opportunity I got to work with her is when I did the Pornhub. It's like Pornhub, oh God, it was so long, it was before the pandemic. It was like the Pornhub challenge or something like that. And people had to like, there was like contestants, and they had to achieve these little things, like accomplishments to go to the like, and then, but I was, she was the host, and then they I would chatter base, but the director and I was loved the way everything, my me and her kind of bounced back and forth with each other, that she made me the co-host with Asa, which I thought was such a great opportunity for me. And they loved the difference that Asa Care is very like this classy, like how she holds herself is so elegant. And for me, I'm just a Jersey girl and I'm very honest and straightforward and have this very like uh it's I don't know how this what word would pop up, but very like straightforward with my with my wording. So it was really great for uh we collaborated very well together. So those were the ones I really wanted nowadays. Uh God, I would uh I would love to collaborate with uh Angela White. I think a lot of people have been asking about about me and her doing something together. I would love to collaborate with Violet Myers, she's a good friend of mine. I think I just love she's just such a beautiful person. I just think our content would go great together. Uh and anybody else, let's see. Um I think they're like the top two that I would I would like to probably collaborate again uh with me and Malcova. Like I remember when she was in the adult industry and seeing her on set and talking to her and stuff like that. It would be nice to kind of do something with her. Um, I think they're like my top three and upcoming uh God, it's so hard. There's so many, so many people in the industry now. So newbies, our our industry is such, especially now with OnlyFans, is such a revolving door of people. Uh I'm usually pretty open to working with people that respect my industry, respect me, and want to get as much content as possible.
Nosy Neighbor. Now, one of the things that really stood out with you in doing the research, uh, through OnlyFans and through Chatterbait, you really have a lot of loyal fans. I mean, your fan base is not
Meeting Fans And Setting Boundaries
Nosy Neighbor.just you know enjoying your videos, there's what seems to be a real connection with you and the audience, and there seems to be a lot of respect that you have for the people that are taking their time to appreciate your content. And we're talking we talked about, you know, you're coming to Minneapolis for exotica. Uh, this will be my first exotica. Um, and I'm just curious, what is that interaction where you actually then get to physically meet these people, and what is the best way to approach someone like you? Because this isn't like you know, I saw you in you know a Marvel movie and I enjoyed the Marvel movie. It's I watched you fuck, you know, so and so. And now, you know, it has to not be like the easiest introduction of I enjoyed you and the orgy that you had. What is the best way to fans to connect with you? You know, how was that interaction, and what's the most respectful way to to approach you?
LAUREN PHILLIPSUh well, it's I get what you're saying because I actually had this conversation with uh Raja, the uh big dragpot, because uh I am getting into I'm expanding my business into another niche. And when we were at a casino, uh there's people coming up to him taking photos, you know? And I had told him, so we were all shooting uh little like reels for Instagram and stuff like that, getting content for social media. And I was like, great, well, I'm gonna go and I have to get some content for myself, just me and a sonat. And he was like, all right, and they went to go do their thing. And as I was now by myself, that's when I had people coming up to me asking for photos, saying, um, I like your work. And it was funny because when I met back up with them and the crew, I was like, I'm like, no one is ever, I was like, people are gonna approach you way differently when they are than approaching me. Because I was like, here they are, they're just watching you gamble. And when they approach me, they are admitting that they are watching first thing porn and that they have and they're looking at me because they have seen me naked and having sex on camera. So it's a very, like a very more intimate, maybe I guess. I guess it depends on what you consider if you consider gambling intimate uh thing to to kind of reveal for yourself. So I was like, once the whole crew is gone, it was just me. I had a lot more people reach out to me. So I definitely, it was funny because we definitely had this conversation of like, you're not gonna see people when I'm with a crew and we're shooting stuff come up to me. It's very rare to come up to me why I have a group of, I'm around a group of like people come up to me and do that. They'll do it when I'm by myself. And so my best thing is like, there is no judgment here. The reason why it's on the internet is just for that reason. And the reason is to uh for you to enjoy, it's to help you get through whatever you're get through, and that for you to enjoy it, and you can come and tell me you enjoy it and that you enjoy my work is probably the best compliment you can give me uh because I work so hard. So for me, just coming up and saying hi uh and asking, like, you know, you know, if you if there's something you want to purchase at the booth that I have uh with uh spotlight, and then just saying like you enjoy my work is the the best the best thing you can do. Like that's a huge compliment. I work really hard, so I want you to enjoy my work. I want people to enjoy my work uh to stalk me and not approach me, but then watch me as I'm going and doing my thing. I usually don't promote that because it's it gets really awkward really fast. And I don't like people like stalking me that way. And I don't like people asking for my number. I don't like people asking, like, you know, how can I, how can I have sex with you? And like, you know, I want, you know, I want to be with you. Like there, there's a a line where I'm like, I appreciate that I influence you to feel so amazing about yourself. That is what I want is for you to feel so great about yourself and feel like you have that safe space with me. But also you have to understand that I do have a personal life that I want to remain personal. Sure.
Nosy Neighbor. So I mean, basically, I appreciate you and appreciate your work, but also realize it's a role, and it may have found you to you know have some enjoyment and stuff like that, but you're still a person and treat you with respect, is what you're saying. That is correct. That seems fair, it just has to be there, has to be some easy and uneasiness, and like I said, this will be my first one, and it's like how do you approach people and how do you do that? And it has to be nice to see the fans, and I would assume most fans are respectful, but at the same time, it has to be a little awkward. But I look forward to hopefully running into you there. Uh, like I said, this will be my first one uh covering it. Um, I do appreciate you coming on. I have one final question for you. Um, so much of what we describe when we describe Lauren Phillips, we say, you know, the beautiful busty redhead. We talk
Identity, Aging, And Letting Go Of Perfect
Nosy Neighbor.about your work, we talk about studios that you've worked with. But when you get up in the morning and you splash the water in your face and look in the mirror for the first time that morning, who is it that you see?
LAUREN PHILLIPSHmm. Uh when I wake up in the morning and I I just see uh the jersey girl. I wake up in the morning and I look like I've gotten a fight with my pillow. And I'm like, all right, it's time to conquer today. And I'm still trying, like, I think I just see that Jersey girl uh still there because I I don't want to ever lose that part of myself. Um, but I also still want to grow as a person and I still have a lot more things to figure out about myself. You know, I like I said, like I'm only 38 years old. And I know a lot of people are like, oh, but you're not, you know, you're not like in your teens or 20. But for me to be where I'm at at such like a young age, uh, a lot of people, especially like, you know, generation uh baby boomers and generation X never was exactly where I was at my time at my age. So and to be in where society is right now and where everything's going, and trying to figure out uh everything, it's uh I'm still learning and I'm still trying to like find like all right, what works for me and what can make me grow. And I'm growing every day and learning things every day. And I think one of the best things I ever learned as I was getting older is that perfection does not exist. And most people that strive for perfection, which is is striving for something that doesn't exist, and that most people can relate and connect to imperfection than perfection because no one is perfect ever, like every day. No one is like if you're perfect, then you've like you've you know, you can't grow anymore because you've hit the the level that you wanted to be at, and we should always be growing all the time.
Nosy Neighbor.Well then well, Lauren Phillips, thank you so much for coming on again. She's appearing live at the Loyal Fans Spotlight in the Minneapolis Exotica uh this weekend.
